Stepping-Out Project reports published online
In 2009 the Higher Education Academy Art Design Media Subject Centre (ADM-HEA) conducted research funded by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport to examine the range and intensity of engagements between art, design and media higher education (Arts HE) and creative and cultural sectors. The Looking Out report http://www.adm.heacademy.ac.uk/projects/adm-hea-projects/looking-out , published by the ADM-HEA in 2010 concluded that contrary to popular opinion there are significant levels of engagement. This study is accompanied by Stepping Out, an initiative comprising five pilot projects specifically focused on creative and cultural sector practitioners in art, design and media education and how their engagement enhances their professional practice.
Stepping Out is jointly funded by the ADM-HEA; Arts Council England, the Centre for Excellence in Learning through Design (CETLD), the Council for Higher Education in Art and Design (CHEAD), the Design Council, the Higher Education Funding Council (HEFCE) and Skillset.
In addition to the five case studies, Stepping Out included a discussion with representatives of the funding organisations, key sector agencies and the contributors to Stepping Out. The full report and case studies are available to download now.
