Design History Society Research Grant
Deadline for applications: 15 January 2012
The Research Grant is awarded by the DHS annually to encourage debate and research activity in design history. The Grant is open to all postgraduates and professional scholars in the field of design history.
JISC Netskills' workshop programme for early 2012

Access to thousands of TV clips from across Europe now available
Following UK launch of the online portal, more than 10,000 items of archived TV footage from 17 European countries are now available via Euscreen, the result of a collaboration with 36 partners across Europe – provides a rich insight into Europe’s television heritage with content dating from the 1920s until today.
Arts Thread – useful organisation for design graduates
Arts Thread is a creative graduate network that bridges the gap between education & the design industry. In little over 2 years, Arts Thread has built relationships with over 80 International art & design universities/colleges in 17 countries and helped over 400 design graduates gain employment with some of the world’s leading brands.

Art School Galleries of the Future Symposium

Inaugural Future Directions conference – Graduates For Our Future

Reward and Recognition Enhancement Change Programme

Teams are invited to submit proposals to join the HEA’s new Reward and Recognition Enhancement (RARE) change programme 2012. This new change programme will focus on reviewing, developing and evaluating opportunities and strategic approaches to the reward and recognition of staff involved in teaching and the support of learning.
Ceramics and Sculpture: Different Disciplines and Shared Concerns

The conference is an initiative of Cardiff School of Art and Design (Cardiff Metropolitan University, UWIC) and National Museum Wales. Collaborative partners are Interpreting Ceramics; Welsh Institute for Research in Art and Design (WIRAD); National Centre for Ceramics in Wales. The conference conveners welcome a variety of papers that engage with the encounter between ceramics and sculpture. Papers representing new research are particularly welcome.
Discipline Change Programmes - Responding to the National Student Survey in the disciplines

The major aim of the Symposium is to provide a forum which brings together those who are primarily researchers into learning in higher education and those who are primarily practitioners concerned more pragmatically with improving their practice, and encourages the sharing of scholarly work and collaborative discussion. But from whichever starting point, papers are only accepted if they take a sufficiently scholarly, research-based approach.
