The Realist Impulse: Contemporary Film Making in Britain

The Film Team at Oxford Brookes is hosting this conference
The keynote speaker is Professor John Hill, Royal
Holloway University, who will be speaking on “The Politics of Realism in the
works of Ken Loach - From Days of Hope to The Wind that Shakes the Barley”. Panels of academic papers will take
place on aspects of contemporary British film making and its complex
relationship with realism/s across the two days of the conference. In addition
there will be a Q&A session with director Pawel Pawlikowski chaired by Jim
Hillier, and a Work In Progress screening session with film makers, chaired by
Jo Nolan, Head of Screen South.
