The Ontology of the Archive - Theory, Methods and Ethics across Disciplines

This is the first seminar in a series of meetings which will develop approaches to archiving and ‘reusing’ data aimed at extending recent debates in the social sciences and archival studies as well as contributing to a recent rethinking of the archive in history, oral history and literary and cultural studies.

Archival research is routine in disciplines such as history but relatively recent in some social sciences. Each research domain carries specific interests, concerns and conceptions of the research process that inflect understandings of archiving and reuse. This series will draw together these different disciplines to reflect on key conceptual, ethical and methodological issues raised by the archiving and reuse of qualitative data.
